Launching of the Online Registration and Information Management of Farmer Groups and Co-operatives

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forest (MoAF) launched the online system for the Registration and Information Management of Farmer Groups and Co-operatives today. The system has been developed to enhance the efficiency of registration by reducing the administrative burden; reducing paper usage, efficient documentation, easily accessible information, monitoring and management of FGs and Coops, timely & efficient information sharing amongst stakeholders, ensure the optimum allocation of the scarce resources, reduce duplication of efforts and ensure effective coordination and collaboration to strengthen Farmer Groups and Cooperatives and enhance marketing by optimizing on economies of scale.

The online ‘Registration and Information Management of Farmers Group and Cooperatives’ is officially launched by Hon’ble Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Penjor. The function was attended by senior officials of the Ministry, concerned stakeholders and the system developers. The platform was developed with the guidance and support of DITT, MoIC and ICTD of the Ministry with fund support from GEF-LDCF, and the consultancy work carried out by NGN Technologies.

For the success of the system, the Ministry will require the support and cooperation from all the stakeholders involved, starting from the farmers/youth/potential members who will input authentic and genuine information to the approving authorities from the Gewog, Dzongkhag and concerned technical agencies, and the stakeholders who update all important information till the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Co-operatives who shall ensure proper information documentation and continued monitoring and follow through.
