As part of the Competency Based Framework for Economic Development and Marketing Officers (EDMOs), a training is underway in Paro starting from today.
This comprehensive training program is delivered by Prof. Mohit Sharma of Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, India. Additional facilitators from key government agencies and the private sector will contribute to ensuring the practical relevance of the course.

The training is designed to empower EDMOs to be more effective in supporting enterprise development, agri-business promotion and agri-tourism development in the Dzongkhags. This initiative is a part of the departmentโs efforts to build a competent and forward-looking officers capable of providing the much needed knowledge and expertise in agricultural marketing at the grass-roots.
The inaugural session was graced by the Director of DAMC, who highlighted the critical role of EDMOs in driving inclusive rural development and transforming Bhutanโs agri-food systems.
The training is funded through GoI-PTA and supported by the Royal Civil Service Commission.

Dr. Mohit Sharma, Asst. Professor, Agribusiness and Rural Management, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Bihar, India. He holds a PhD in Agribusiness, with his doctoral research focusing on โIndian Mango Exports with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP): Challenges and Prospects.โ His academic interests span agri-marketing, rural development, agri-ecotourism, and sustainable agricultural exports.
Dr. Sharmaโs recent work includes studies on post-COVID-19 impacts on the food sector, farmer-tourist interactions for agri-ecotourism in Rajasthan, and the role of social responsibility in tourism engagement. His interdisciplinary research highlights innovative strategies for rural economic advancement through agriculture and tourism integration.
